10 Steps for Coordinating Your Adult Program:
1. See full responsibilities of the Program Coordinator position under position descriptions.
2. Determine the cooking equipment that you will focus on in your series.
3. Determine the number of classes you will teach in your series and where the class will take place (confirm the dates with your location). Coordinate with Nurture site liaison on this task.
4. Contact us with dates and times so they can be posted on the Nurture website.
5. Recruit families through partner social service agencies. Coordinate with Nurture agency liaison(s) on this task.
6. Create a curriculum overview–a chart showing the lessons, food groups, handouts, recipes and fitness tips to be covered during your class series. Click here for an example.
-for lessons and handouts, coordinate with the Nurture site liaison
-for recipes, coordinate with the Nurture food committee, the Nurture nutrition committee and the Nurture communications committee
-for fitness tips, coordinate with the Nurture fitness committee.
7. Staff your program with volunteers. Click here for an example volunteer chart. Coordinate with volunteer coordination committee on this task.
8. Purchase cooking equipment for the series—recommended through the Nurture website as Amazon gives Nurture a small commission for our non profit. Coordinate with Nurture site liaison on this task.
9. For each class:
-ensure that each person in attendance (participant and volunteer) has signed a liability waiver; coordinate with Nurture site liaison/volunteer coordinator on this task.
-make sure that you cover the Nurture policies and procedures with your participants.
