If you like working with kids, teens, or adults of all ages and helping others, Nurture can put your passion and energy to good use! We are especially looking for bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers, Registered Dieticians and/or students studying to be a R.D.
Class Observer
- The best way to be introduced to Nurture! Check the Calendar for a class date and time that works with your schedule, and Contact us to let us know you are coming. Don’t forget to bring an observation form to fill out when you attend a class. Your insights (successes and opportunities to improve) help us to continuously improve.
Class Instructor/Assistant
- Reviews the lesson plan for the day in order to be prepared to teach
- Sets up prior to class, if applicable
- Demonstrates food equipment and recipe preparation during class sessions, if applicable
- Ensures site is appropriately cleaned following class
Program Coordinator
- Interfaces with agency/site/school on details of program/series/class (goals, expectations, dates, times, number of participants, etc.)
- Helps to set budget for approval by Nurture finance committee
- Prepares curriculum overview chart (overview of lessons, handouts, activities, crafts, and/or recipes taught on each class date)
- Oversees enrollment process (with agency) including recruitment forms/intake forms to generate class participant roster
- Ensures that all participants have signed legal waiver forms (adult waiver, kids program waiver, and talent/ media waiver)
- Works with Nurture Volunteer Coordination committee to recruit and schedule volunteers, ensuring each has signed volunteer waiver
- Ensures historian/ photographer has been scheduled, if desired, and has signed volunteer waiver
- Oversees shopping (food, equipment, supplies) and expense tracking with help from finance committee
- Provides teaching materials for each class to instructors, including print outs if applicable
- Follows up with participant families for class date reminders
- Coordinates with Program Evaluation committee to ensure program results are tracked and recorded
